Building process
Building your new home is a very complex undertaking. In order to efficiently coordinate the work of many trades and the installation of numerous materials, each new home we build follows a detailed construction schedule involving several stages. We encourage you to understand the building process and watch as your new home takes shape. We have created a simplified schedule below so that you may follow the process with an understanding of how your home is being built.
The Stages of Construction
Foundation Stage
These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Excavation for foundation
- Foundation form boards erected
- Rough in underground plumbing
- Vapor barrier installed
- Foundation poured
- Remove form boards
- Install underground storm drain piping and make sewer system connections
- Water service installed
- Back fill the foundation
Framing
These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Interior floors are constructed
- Interior & exterior walls are constructed
- Exterior sheathing installed as required per plan
- Roof trusses are installed
- Roof sheeting and nailing is completed
Exterior Finishes
These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Roofing materials loaded and installed
- Windows installed
- Exterior doors installed
- Brick and stone work completed
- Exterior siding completed
Pre-Sheetrock
This is the last stage of "Rough Construction." These tasks are completed at this stage before Woodcrest Homes can start the "Finish Stages" of your new home:
- Rough plumbing installed
- Rough HVAC installed
- Rough electrical installed
- Rough frame inspections (Municipal inspections, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical and Frame Inspections) completed
- Wall Insulation installed and inspected
- Sheetrock delivered
Sheetrock
This is the beginning of your "Finish" stage of construction. These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Exterior of the house is painted (weather permitting)
- Sheetrock installed throughout the house
- Sheetrock taped and finished
- Ceiling insulation installed
Interior Trim Stage
These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Interior door jambs, doors and trim installed
- Base molding installed
- Staircase railing and balusters installed
- Window sills and trim installed
Painting, Cabinets and Countertops
These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Interior painted
- Cabinets installed
- Countertops installed
- Mirror and shower enclosures installed
Flooring
These tasks are completed at this stage:
- Finish electrical installed
- Finish plumbing installed
- Finish HVAC installed
- All flooring installed
- Appliances installed
- "Flat Work" (sidewalks, patios and driveways) are formed up and the concrete is poured
- Outside landscaping is completed (weather permitting)
- Decks are built
- Final clean completed
Your home is now complete!
Buyer Acceptance
Our team will now present your new home. During the presentation, you will receive a demonstration of all your new home's features. You will have an opportunity to note any issues which we will address prior to closing.
